Side Note

Oh, just for the record....one of the moms at the open house today heard Emerson make her repeated snorting/grunt noises and agreed, w/ a great deal of laughter, that she does indeed sound pig-like. hee hee...... :) She's still cute as a button!!!

Preschool Here We Come

Grace met her new teacher today as well as all the kids in her class. She was pretty excited, at least compared to last year. This is year two for her at The Gingerbread House, so I know that makes a huge difference. She made me proud(what else is new), she walked right in, found her name tag and took a spot in the already formed circle of classmates. Grace introduced herself to a couple of the girls(there are actually four girls including Grace this year, compared to last year's two). The best thing yet....one of the boys(Tanner-she wanted me to be sure to include his name) from her class last year is in this class and she thinks he is soooo dreamy(her words). It's a familiar face for her and apparently one she appreciates very much(oh, they start so young)!! :)

She starts next Wed and will be tackling the morning class, so we'll see how getting up for that goes. :) It will be nice to get back into a routine of some kind.....although this year can go as slooooow as it wants because Kindergarten is knocking on the door for next year and let's just say that I've had a few teary moments already!! Good Heavens..how wishy-washy am I?! :)

Scenes From a Weekend

What a great weekend we had!! The four of us hung out and it was perfect!!!

We headed down to the Old Market Saturday night and treated ourselves to dinner at Spaghetti Works and ice cream at Ted and Wallys.

While eating dinner, the balloon gal stopped by, so we quickly adopted a kitty and penguin...too cute!!!! They were Grace's friends the rest of the evening.

Speaking of friends, Grace made friends w/ one of the horses down there. Grace LOVES horses, so it was a huge thrill to pet one!

The weather was perfect and we wandered around while Grace just gabbed on and on about all that she saw. She loved the 'big city' feel. :) We told her to wait until we take her to New York City, one of Mom and Dad's favorite places, then she will see a BIG city.

Speaking of big, the ice cream cone at Ted and Wally's was a big success as well...and when I mean big, take a look at that cone!! Too big for a 4 yr old, but she did alright considering.

After our night out, we spent Sunday taking it easy, enjoying the beautiful day. Nothing funny or unusual happened, just a great weekend of family together time. I always mourn Sunday night as I know it means Mike is back at work in the morning...I hate to see him go!!! There is nothing better than spending time w/ these two girls and their dad. I love them sooooo much!!!

Pig? Cat? Horse?

This adorable little baby is not altogether human. Really, she's not. The sounds that come from this tiny little package are hilarious, sometimes annoying and quite honestly, a little scary. A hysterical cry that quickly elevates to the sound of a cat in serious pain....ear plugs required. It gets better, she snorts... or grunts... or something like that. It is, well, a bit unsettling...I've never heard a baby grunt in a pig-horse way like this. It just might keep you up at night.... oh, yeah, it does!!! If I had the capability to record it and put it on here, I would.

Beautiful Teeth

I am so proud of my Gracie Bug!!! She had a dentist appt. yesterday and she was so brave!!! I am always amazed at how she steps up to the plate and takes care of business. She may not want to be there, but she goes in, no complaints. :) Best thing yet...no cavities...YAY! :)

I didn't take pictures this time...guess I figured one visit was enough with me bouncing around like the paparazzi. Not to mention, this time I had a 5 wk old friend w/ me who was trying hard to devour my shirt and shoulder all at once. These pics are from Grace's last appt...aww, so cute!!!

Here's the thing, though, I am amazed at what they have going on at these offices these days. TVs in the ceiling, headphones, sunglasses so the light isn't too bright. If that had been the set up in the stone ages(aka, when I was a kid), I would have probably begged to go to the dentist.....er, well, maybe not really. Do adults get this treatment somewhere or is my dentist behind the times? I may need to make a few phone calls and find one in my area...after all w/ two little ones now, a visit to the dentist may be the only time I get to watch tv in peace.

Hello Out There

Welcome!

My inbox is full of messages from friends saying 'check out our blog....keep up to date with us'. So, I'm good at following directions...I check in from time to time, enjoy the entries and photos.....never once thinking I would set one up. Then several friends said the exact same thing...'the blog serves as an efficient form of scrap booking'. Excellent. Already behind on both of my daughter's baby books, I thought this just might be for me. Thus, 'A Day in the Life' was born.

We have lots of family and friends who live far away...hopefully this will be a fun way to keep in touch. Hope you enjoy whatever time you generously spend here!!!
