Update

What a bittersweet couple of days this has been...said our final farewell to Grandma on Saturday and on Sunday had a family reunion w/ the other side of my family to celebrate my other grandma's impending 90th birthday. Wow! The emotions have been all over the place.

Grandma's funeral was very simple and nice. So many family members from all over came in to say good-bye and that was so special. My cousin and I both spoke during the funeral and I'm so glad we did...it really added a personal touch and it felt good to do it for Gram. I know she heard us.

The family reunion went well...a bit overwhelming for my other grandma, I think, but fun to see all of my cousins and such. Hung out at the lake and soaked up some sun.

Mike continues to improve every day. His appetite is much, much better, although he still needs to eat more. His numbers are looking better. He continues to go in every day for IV antibiotics and tmrrw he has another CAT scan to see how his liver is doing. Still pretty weak.

Dear Grandma Cramer,

Thank you for passing on your love of animals...especially your love of dogs.
Thank you for being an ever constant example of compassion.
Thank you for every birthday, anniversary, Christmas card you sent...always the first card I re'cvd for every single holiday...you always remembered.
Thank you for always saying 'Bless your/his/her heart'....it's such a sweet saying and I think of you every time I say it.
Thank you for all the smiles, hugs and sharing that great laugh of yours.
Thank you for raising such an amazing son...my dad.
Thank you for all the times you patted both of my cheeks and said 'I Love You More Than You Will Ever Know'.
Thank you for being my Grandma here on Earth and now in Heaven.

You are missed already.

Love You, Grandma, always.

Getting Better...Slowly

Mike continues to improve. #'s are normal, abscesses on the liver are improving, getting some strength back. Hopefully, he'll be heading home tomrrw.

The girls and I took him outside for the first time last night. Went pretty well...he was grateful for the fresh air, but he was exhausted by the time he was back in bed.

He needed a little support walking back to his room...

Attack of the Bacteria

I decided I needed a better title than "Update".

We still don't know for sure what kind of bacteria is invading Mike's body, but he is getting better.

They went in yesterday to tickle his liver(aka, drain puss out of the abscess they found there) and that was not pleasant for him on any level. They will do another CAT scan tomrrw to see if it helped. His counts are all normal now, his breathing is much improved.

He will remain in the hospital over the weekend and probably into early next week...depends on the abscess on his liver.

Poor guy...I feel so sorry for him, but he's very lucky. The more I learn about Sepsis, the more I understand how deadly it can be.

This week rocks.
(that was sarcasm, folks :) )

Update

Mike has a Sepsis infection(infection of the blood stream). Not sure why or how...might not ever know for sure. He seems to be responding to antibiotics as his counts are improving, but he his still very sick.

Please add him to your prayers...thank you. :)
