3rd Grade Musical

The entire third grade sang, danced and told us a story tonight and it was pretty darn cute.  Of course, I wound up sitting on the opposite side of the gym from where Grace was standing, but I still grabbed a shot or two.

She was checking out who was there...that face. xo

Chill.  She was completely chill.

Lainey has been friends with Grace since Kindergarten...Grace's first friend in school....and it's still holding up.  One of the best kids...

Madison..one of our favorites and oddly, many people at school mix these two up...they think they look so much alike...huh.  Besties.

No idea who this lady is, but G was open to pics with anyone.... :)  My folks have been at everything any of their grandchildren have been a part of...devoted fans for life...pretty special.

Jamie, our neighbor and friend, rode along to catch the performance.  As for the blonde one...I don't know, she just kind of follows us around...can't seem to shake her.  xo

And I Quote

Phone rings....

"Hello?"

Short pause.

"Look...who are you and what do you want?"

Now that, my friends, is how you answer the phone.

Oh, my Eme Lou. :)

Sadly, I wasn't privy to the response of the poor soul on the other end....

That Kind of Song

Everybody has at least one...I personally have many...that song that comes on the radio while you are driving and you HAVE to turn it up full volume and sing EVERY SINGLE WORD.

First smile of the day courtsey of one Mr. Lou Gramm.  :)

And I Quote

"How old will you be on your birthday, Mommy?"

"40."

Pause

"Oh my."

Let's Hear It For 80's Hairbands!

Thanks to this movie(and my new found love for it and watching it waaaay too much in a 24 hr period)...my girls are OBSESSED with the music..in particular this song.  They have been listening to Journey all night now...Eme in particular stands in front of the mirror and sings and dances.  It is THE BEST.  For a music obsessed mom...I call it brilliant parenting!!

What Is

There is a phrase I have recently encountered from the beautiful wisdom of Zen.

What if we allow what "is" to simply be?
What if we allow what "is" to simply be?
What if we allow what "is" to simply be?

As humans we are often times taught from birth there's a good and a bad. We take this dualistic approach to life and interpret most all of the activity within as either good or bad. We form o...pinions, beliefs, choices, states of mind, and conditions of our souls based upon whether we interpret something as good or bad.

For example, if, at the end of the day, we interpret our daily events positively, we communicate "today was a good day;" our demeanor is pleasant, our mind is restful, and our heart is light. On the contrary, if at the end of the day we interpret our activity as being negative, we communicate "today was a bad day;" our demeanor becomes sullen and melancholy, our mind is frustrated, and our heart is heavy.

What if we allow what "is" to simply be? There would be no good or bad, it would simply be what "is." And what "is" would merely be something to enjoy and grow from. There is no interpretation, no opinion, no choice, no belief system... simply allow what is to simply be... next step... enjoy and be at peace.

Some things happen, and some things don't happen.

What if we allow what "is" to simply be?

Thought for the Moment

"If you're gonna make a change and you're gonna make it through this, you're gonna have to operate from a new belief that says life happens not to me but for me."-- Tony Robbins

(I swear...I sometimes think the daily quote for a day that drops into my inbox every morning knows EXACTLY what's up. :)

And I Quote

"It looks like it's going to rain, Mommy.  Do you know how I know this?  See those clouds....Mommy...SEE THEM?  They are sad and they are about to cry, so that means we get rained on".....Emerson, today while driving home from preschool.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that she is only 4 yrs old.

Can You Tell?

Somebody FINALLY got a haircut....well, a 2 inch trim and layers, but still..you wouldn't believe what a difference it's made!!! I can actually get the brush all the way thru it w/out giving the poor girl whiplash and a headache.....glorious!

Before...
Ta-Daaaa...
Well...you can barely tell the difference, now can you...

...BUT, for the record...I swear her hair IS actually brushed in the 'before' shot....so...see...told you she was long over due for a trim!!!!

She's such a cute thing.

Just Love It

And I Quote

"I don't know, Mommy, I don't know how he does it?"
"How who does what, Bug?"
"How God just keeps making them so darn cute!"

HA! :)

My conversation with Grace when I showed her this pic. Oh, that face. :) We both agreed that we would not be able to stop squeezing those little pink cheeks.

GORGEOUS

Oh, SO True!

My kids STILL do this...at 8 and 4!!! I'm starting to think it will never end!

Grace and I Find This Hilarious

This will not be funny to anyone but us...I'm certain of it. Nevertheless, Grace and I wanted to preserve this on this online journal of sorts. She has a Junie B Jones journal and it has a page where she is supposed to make up new names for her family members. We laughed until tears..yes, seriously..over some of them. She wrote this when she was several years younger. For some reason, Josh, Don and Mitch just got me. I don't have an explanation for that, they just did. :)

Mommy: Jill....Maria
Daddy: Mike....Joe
Sister: Emerson....Gego
Grandma: Judy....Moonda
Grandpa: Jim....Josh
Uncle: Jeff....Frodon
Uncle: Jay....Don
Grandma: Bev....Loosa
Grandpa: Rod....Mitch

"And Mommy....sometimes I steal sugar packets from Village Inn."...Grace, quite randomly tonight while hanging out together.

Please don't call the authorities.
