Deep Thoughts
In the beginning of our journeys we are "forming." We are open to information from a variety of sources: parents, teachers, professors, pastors, friends etc.
Then, for some reason we make a grand decision and say we're done forming. We feel we've read the menu well and have made our decision what to ascribe as positive for us, and what we ascribe as negative for our life path. And... on we go in...
Then, for some reason we make a grand decision and say we're done forming. We feel we've read the menu well and have made our decision what to ascribe as positive for us, and what we ascribe as negative for our life path. And... on we go in...
this direction.
What happens then, when somehow... in some way... we... discover a secret... a Truth... a shard of light that grants us more light, life and love than what we've previously known? Is it right? It goes in the face of what I've been led to believe IS right... yet this new thought brings me great positive energy. Fresh winds like never before.
Maybe the idea that we've completed the "forming process" of being a grown up... isn't really true? Maybe we're supposed to keep forming, keep exploring, keep digging, continue to find new secrets with new messages that make us more and more whole?
As we discover new secrets: a book, a billboard, a blog, a post... may we not be so quick to throw things out simply bc they don't coincide with our present belief system... but rather, may we be more open in spirit to receive, to digest, to sample and see does this work, does this help my life become more positive, more balanced, do I feel more peace, more happiness?
We never know what we might find, if we're simply open to finding... something.

More Found Gems
I admit that these tugged at my heart in particular because I don't remember this time very well at all due to health issues, but gosh, I am amazed at how much she looks like me as I did as a baby...from those eyes, to the amount/color of hair, shape of her head...crazy!!
She has changed so much. :)
All of these are Grace's handiwork...as I said...nobody makes Eme smile like G. :)
Lost Gems
I recently discovered some oldies that were on Grace's first camera that were never downloaded...and there were some cute ones. :)
Easter Egg Hunt at GG Cramer's assisted living facility...2009
No clue when...just...ummm...cute?
Self portrait while driving around...most of the pics on that camera are like this...Grace bored and taking random shots.
Again...what do you know...Eme voicing her concern about the length of time this picturing taking thing is taking!!!
The entertainment at Jeff's party....
Last time I was with my grandma before she passed a month and a half later...
All I remember is she was waiting for Grace to finish with something and she was letting me know how unhappy that made her. :)
She really is sweet. xo
My precious Bug. :) One of my favorite pictures ever...her first and long, LONG awaited ride on the horse carriage in the Old Market.
Nobody makes Eme smile like Miss Grace. :)
I can honestly say I have never done this, but it made me laugh out loud. :)

That's My Girl
I help coordinate the blood drive at Grace's school and as I was working on things for that last night, Grace asked if she could make a sign to post at her school as well as if she could help at the actual drive next week.
I said yes to both things.
That's my girl. :)

Fly Kite Fly
Kite flying....lots of smiles....
At first they worked so hard to get that SpongeBob kite airborne...
They were really high....
I let this one hold it for awhile...lecturing to be careful because if she let go, the kite would be gone for good...
She kept a steady hand...
Now, this one...the one I didn't think I'd have to worry about taking over the task of guiding our friend the kite....
.....right....?...no worries...steady hand, steady gaze...she's got this....
Uhhhh...think again..I turned my back and heard a cry, looked up and there it went..right over the roof of the house....headed straight to the front yard....
Where it hooked itself on a really high branch and there it stayed...flying proudly over the neighborhood....
Ah, well. There were tears (I admit...terrible mom that I am, my tears were a result of laughing..I know, I know....no mother of the year award for me this year..while my 8 yr old cried, I laughed..I swear, I'm hanging my head in shame as I type...)...and in the end, SpongeBob and Patrick finally crashed to the ground and they are now tucked in the trash bin outside. Sigh. No wonder kites are so cheap to replace.....

One Thing
At the insistence of my two girls, I have been asked to add one of their favorite videos to this blog. ("Since, Moooom, you ALWAYS put the music you like on there..it's only fair we get a turn.)
And may I say that it is completely adorable watching these two girls crush on this boy band? I remember my days at that age, doing the same thing and it's a touch magical to see it from the parent point of view now. If it gets them listening to music, then bring it...doesn't matter how they got there...the music will do it's thing and make them music fans for life..I'm certain. And I love that.
As I watched this with them, Eme said, "Mommy..I just can't stop my smile when I see them." And when 'her boy' came on the screen, she blushed and had to hide her eyes. It's just cute. :) :)
So, here is a small piece of my girl's childhood...and I have to say, it's a pretty sweet song, so it's okay by me that they love it.
xo
Three Cheers!
Congrats to Bean for coming in first place with her dance team in a recent competition!!!
AND
Congrats to her for making the high school dance team!!!
SO PROUD!!!
Love you, Beanie Bop. xoxo
She Made My Whole Day
"Mommy...be sure to sign my planner."
I did that and then I had to smile when I discovered she had left a little message for me to find at the bottom.
Such a sweet kid. :)

Crazy
Wonder why this picture?
Well, last night, big rain and HUGE hail. Sounded like golf balls hitting the house, windows and everything else! CRAZY.
This is proof of aforementioned crazy...the girls left their princess stool outside on the deck last night...this is the damage that the balls of ice God decided to throw down on us did...shattered one section and went clear thru another.
Grief.
And NOW....24 hours later? Snowing. Yes...that's right...April 10th...snowing. Why not, eh?
Gingerbread House Bedtime Storytime
Eme's preschool had a bedtime storytime tonight....the kids were asked to wear their pjs while they listened to stories and sang songs.
Pulling such a mom move, I asked Eme to sit across the circle from me so I could see her face, but she staunchly refused...so, I had her back most of the time (yes, I could have been the one to move, but please understand the level of stubbornness in my children...she would have just moved w/ me). I think she was nervous beforehand because her tummy hurt right up until she sat down on her carpet square.
Emerson had two fans watching her tonight...me and this kid...who also wore her pjs, but claimed the entire affair was BORING!! Ahh....wasn't that long ago that she was the one sitting on those carpet squares. :)
Eme relaxed a little when her fellow classmates closed in around her...
Done! "Mommy, you were right! I DID love it!!" :) (When will they ever realize that I'm usually right?! What's that? Never, you say? Huh....sigh.)
Nope...they don't enjoy the musical offerings of one very popular group of British boys...nope...not at all....
Eme's teacher, Mrs. Long...so sweet.
They did several of these, but this was my favorite. Whenever I sub at the school, I always include this one in the music class...it's hilarious. :) I adore the way Eme, when she is supposed to put her bottom out, she puts her head down instead and then doesn't move!. Ha!!! I had great fun chuckling at my child..is that wrong?? :) :)

How Did I Forget This One?!
Uncle Jeff playing paperdoll princesses w/ his nieces....Easter Sunday. How could I leave this one off?
(I suspect he gave in to this activity because the guilt from stealing some of their eggs right out from under their noses got the best of him, but that's just a guess (see previous post) ).
;)

Love This
Do you ever get the feeling, all the agreements we make about life,
We're born with instincts, things we use to guide us to be happy. As we grow,
what we believe it is and what we believe it's not might not be entirely
correct. Who we are, what we're meant to do, where we fit??
We're born with instincts, things we use to guide us to be happy. As we grow,
many opinions are shared with us by other humans about what is "acceptable"
and what is not. Soon, out of fear of not being accepted we leave the world of
using our own instincts, and start using the world of other people's opinions to
guide us into being happy.
Instead of being who we're really born to be, we start becoming the person other
Instead of being who we're really born to be, we start becoming the person other
people think we are, or want us to be. We do this under the guise "if others are pleased
with me, I'll be pleased with myself."
We are born with an amazing purpose and message, that message is "you." No one else
We are born with an amazing purpose and message, that message is "you." No one else
is going to be "you." No one else has true authority to tell you who your "you" is... just you. :)
I believe there are things missing in this life... and I believe that thing is "you."
