Oh They Loved It

I tried hard to get the squeals from all the girls...this didn't do it justice, but it was the only time I was almost fast enough to get at least a taste.  I love how the girls in that theater just let it go..screaming, clapping...gushing over the boys. :)  So cute.

I love how you can hear the girls..mine included...it's just sweet.  I'm having a blast watching Grace experience this whole fan thing. :)  I tried to get her face, but they turn the lights out and stuff, so....difficult.

No, you aren't supposed to do this, but..oh well.

Roar

There are so many questionable people in the industry these days...not sure if they put out the right image for what feels like the target audience of kids.  So many sexual innuendos, violence, just simple inappropriateness.

However, when I hear Grace singing this one at the top of her lungs, I smile and quietly thank Katy Perry.

It's a catchy number with a powerful message.  I admit, I'm kinda lovin' on it myself.

Another First Day Coming Soon

Eme starts preschool, year two, next week...so today we met the teacher..Mrs. Schulz.  I suspect this teacher will push the academics a bit more which is probably a good fit for the year before Kindergarten.  Ready, set, here we go. :)

Scenes From a Parade

Millard Days Parade on Saturday..a tradition for the girls, myself and the folks.

Truly, it's about the kids...because they want the candy that is thrown out in piles...they run, push, and even crawl to get to it.  For the parents, it simply means another bag of sugar to hide away while explaining to the chanting children that it's not healthy to eat that much candy in one day.  Sigh. :)

This is an example of one of the things in this world that is just wrong.  Gives me the chills, I tell you...

She was all business...

All business, but cute.

Emerson hid from the clown and Grace hid from this bear.  Huh.  Each to their own phobia, I guess.

She was mesmerized by the first marching band to come by...which just happened to be from my old high school.  It was cute to watch Eme take it all in.

Hey!  I know her!!!  I think she was the only one in the parade who was texting while she walked. ;)

Eme found that one of her friends was walking in the parade, too. :)

Their parade buddy.

All done.  They enjoyed themselves.

More New!

So happy to see that one of my favorites is back w/ a new album...several months ago, but no mind!!  :)

Adore her lyrics always.  Such a great lyric for young girls.

An old one, but one of the most touching I've ever heard.  Always gives me goosebumps.

New Blue October!!! :) :) :)

Thought For the Moment

Success!!

Make that a HUGE success!!

"She's hilarious, Mom!"(referring to her teacher)
"All the girls loved my One Direction bag!"
"We get to bring a book from home to read in the classroom!"
"Harry just took a nap in my backpack all afternoon!"
"Hurricane wet on the floor!!" (Hurricane is the class turtle)

Big sigh of relief. :)

4th Grade!

Crazy.

Can't believe she is in 4th grade.

She did great..a little teary, but as she got ready, packed one Harry Styles in her backpack, sang One Direction songs..and she was good.

The tree pic.....:)

Those guys saved the day.

Tired to get a pic of her and Jacob, but no go...this is what I got, while Jacob's mom watched her son just run away.  Ah, well.

Pedicures, Papa and Locusts...What?

Grace experienced her first pedicure today...a back to school treat.  So, of course, I had one along w/ her.

She wasn't too sure at first, but as we sat together, she grew more relaxed

She kept her eye on the lady touching her feet...she kept looking over at me w/ the funniest expressions...

At the end she said she couldn't wait to do it again!!!

The end result....we chose matching designs. xo

After G and I had lunch and did some shopping, we stopped to pick up Eme from Papa and Mawk....

And got wrapped up in locusts.....again....

They are watching one that had just come out of the ground and was trying to find a spot on the tree in order to break from his/her shell....

This little guy is alive and preparing himself...

A handful of hours later...he came out of his shell...looked like this and then....died...?  I don't think that's the way that was supposed to go down, but indeed, he just sat there and died.  Huh.

Papa's yard is a literal science experiment...Eme was thrilled to find the shell of a locust and a dead locust that survived longer out of the shell than our aforementioned friend...

This just cracks me up...nobody seems to care about Papa's story because there are PANTS..and Grace's reaction to Eme's playmates (locust shells and a dead locust)..priceless...

And I Quote

A very sleepy Grace woke herself up on my arrival home around midnight last night to say....."Mommy...I love you more than ever.  Hope you had fun at Binko.  Go to bed now, please." :)

And that's Bunco...not Binko.

It all sounded pretty cute in her sleepy voice w/ her eyes barely open.  I'm pretty sure she knew what she was saying, though.

Day 70

This was the last day of summer vacation and I think the girls spent it just as they wanted.  Home, relaxed, hanging w/ their friend.

I'm pretty sad to see summer vacation come to a close.  We didn't take a fancy vacation, we didn't sign up for endless day camps or further our education with classes.  We just had lots and lots of together time...nearly every single day, all day long and I wouldn't trade it for the world.  Don't get me wrong, lots of moments of wondering when the bickering would end or wondering if I'd ever have a minute to myself to think a coherent thought before I lost my sanity completely, but the truth of the matter is that I will miss my Bug as she heads back to the classroom (Emerson doesn't have to go back until Sept) and I think the folks at Wheeler are damn lucky they get to spend so much time with her thru the week. xo

Love my girls.

Day 69...Today!!!

That time already...meet the new teacher...drop off school supplies...learn a new room...

4th Grade!!  CRAZY.  Hard to believe that this is Grace's second to last year in elementary school.  Gosh, it's gone so fast!!!

Mrs. Dizona is the lucky teacher who gets to spend every day w/  Bug and I think it will be a good fit.  She is fun, easy going and happy...Grace will fit in beautifully, not to mention it's the teacher Grace said she wanted, so, once again...she got lucky!

Here we go again....

Day 66-68

Day 66-67.....all about relaxing.  Knowing that summer vacation is rapidly coming to an end...we chose to enjoy the idea of nothing.

This is what Day 67 looked like....

Day 68 (Wed)

Adventureland!  Grace got to take her best friend Madison and those girls had a blast together.  Never stopped talking...so adorable.  Perfect weather, perfect company...great way to wrap up summer.

  Both girls...completely One Direction obsessed....

And these girls have this guy to thank.  Papa wanted to treat the girls..it was his idea to include a friend and he spoiled all of us.  These girls have no idea how lucky they are to have a Papa like that!!!

The older girls were so sweet to Eme..they tolerated several baby rides with her...they barely fit in the ladybug, but they kept riding with her...over and over and over again.

My favorite quote of the day came from Miss. Madison...on the way home I heard her say to Grace..."I'm tired, but I am so happy."  Those two ARE so happy together..two peas in a pod..it's the loveliest thing.

Amazing time for the kids!  THANK YOU PAPA!!!! xoxo
