And I Quote...
"Was there really a day when everything was black and white? I'm sure glad we are colored now"...Grace, while sitting w/ Mike as he watched an old black and white movie.

And I Quote...
"I'm cute!"
...10 secs pass...
"I'm not cute, I'm mad!"

"I'm not mad, I'm happy!"

"I'm not happy, I'm cute! Really, I'm cuuuteeee!"
...Eme, yelling at the top of her lungs, arms raised in the air, this morning while eating breakfast...
...yes, this is normal...for her anyway... :)

Sara Bareilles - Gonna Get Over You
This is our favorite dancing around the house song of the moment...Eme and I have danced to it three times today already(we do a fabulous 'ballroom dancing' routine...you really should see it ;) )...I dare you not to move just a little bit while listening to it...

Did I Mention...
..that Bug and I had a Mommy/Gracie Day a couple of weeks ago and we spent part of it watching 'Tangled'? I love those one on one days w/ my Bug...not enough of them...she is my favorite person to hang w/...and 'Tangled' was actually really good...however, the cost of popcorn...outrageous...it's only popcorn, people, it just shouldn't cost that much...:)

The day after, Josie hung w/ us at the mall and she was sweet enough to buy Grace a Build-A-Bear...they got matching bears and G named hers 'Jos', while Jos named hers...wait for it...'Grace'...these two are too cute...

Know What...
...I love it when little kids are so excited to tell you something that they trip over their own words...then they stop, regroup, try again, trip, stop, regroup...til they get it right.
Too bad adults can't do that more often.
Kids rule.

Snow Day!
First snow day of the school year! First major snowfall this winter! Perfect.
It's really deep...

Eme kept saying 'I can't get up! I can't get up!', even when she was already up...

Perfect for angels...

G tried really hard to get E going on that thing...

I had lots of help w/ the driveway...hey, I just noticed that Eme's new hat serves a dual purpose...see how it covers her mouth...ha!(yeah, I went there...for those of you who understand how much she whines, you'll get my point)...

Neighbor kids came to help, too...

We all loved it!

Is It Still Christmas?!
I am surprised I haven't heard from my Bean about seeing these pics...but, last week we celebrated Christmas one. more. time. :) This time w/ my family. It was a blast...considering my little foursome stayed until 1 in the morning playing games and such, I'd say we had a good time. :) Thanks Jeff & Kim for hosting!!!
Love the stockings made by Grandma...

There were more presents...

Including Legos from Uncle Jeff...

...and stuffed dogs and new hats from Uncle Jay...

Feel the love...

These two spend a lot of time here...

This little girl just wanted some sleep...yeah, my 2yr old stayed up until 1 in the morning...mom of the year right here, people...

Sad Day
Another day...another shooting. Seems like it's happening more and more often in this country and I am not sure why. Today a 17yr old was suspended from Millard South High School(the high school I graduated from), here in Omaha, for tearing up the football field w/ his car. He left school and then came back w/ a gun...walked into the office and shot the principal and asst. principal. All of the schools in the Millard School District were put on lock down until the shooter was found in his car, dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. The principal is currently in serious condition and we just learned that the asst. principal died tonight. She was the one who suspended the kid...guess he got his payback, huh?
I went to pick Grace up at school today, unaware of this situation. A friend pulled up next to me in her car and told me the kids were in lock down and they were unsure when they would be released. At that point, the shooter's whereabouts were still unknown. I started for home and stopped to talk to my neighbor...she took the call from the school saying that the kids were being released. I rushed back to school and saw the kids beginning to trickle out of the building.
Grace got in the car and I asked what went on at school that day. She said they got to practice their 'Code Red' today...something they are apparently very familiar with...something, I might add, that was not around in my day. I asked what that meant...she said it meant that a bad person was in the building and that the door was locked, the lights were turned off and they had to scrunch on the floor...under the teacher's desk if they liked. She said she was quite certain there was a bad man outside their door. I explained the reality of the situation to her and she just kind of looked at me. We talked about it for a while...she seemed okay. My eyes welled w/ tears as I listened to her take on the situation. I never thought I'd hear my 6yr old talk about such things. I don't want her to have to talk about such things.
It's so unsettling. Unfortunately, this is not terribly uncommon, but when it happens in your neck of the woods, it makes you jump to attention a bit more. I always grieve this kind of thing, no matter it's location, but this was too close. Too close.
I have no idea what I even want to say about this. Something is amiss and it scares me. I despise guns. I think our laws are no where near as strict as they need to be. I think there are a lot of parents not taking their jobs seriously out there. I think there are a lot...A LOT...of kids in a lot of pain out there. I think we need help.
