5th Grade and Kindergarten. Nothing about today was easy, actually more challenging than I had guessed, but we got thru it and at the end of the day, they were all smiles.
Hoping for the best for day two because tears have already started for one of these two girls in anticipation of tmrrw morning. Poor thing. xo
I'm still not sure when this happened...
"Don't forget the backpack shot, Mom!"
We all wore matching 'Believe' bracelets today...a way to stay connected and give a little strength. Trust me, I needed it just as much as them.
Here we go...
Nerves hit and so did some tears. Left the big one crying in the back and the little one crying in the front. Geez.
So...when it's all done and you've pulled yourself thru.....you spend the night on your bike with your brewery sweat band....yep.....
Back to school is upon us and we got to see the classrooms and meet the teachers tonight.
I think I'm still in shock that the little one will be in school just like her big sister. Her cubby...
Big Sis showing her the ropes of choosing your lunch selection...
Eme is pretty excited about Mrs. Larka. She was sweet and as they are both blondes...there you go...:)
On to the big kid's classroom....
How we got to 5th grade already, I have no idea. Her last year in elementary school!
Mrs. McGregor is the perfect match for G, I think. Very sweet, low key, approachable...Grace was very happy and she has lots of friends in her class this year. I think I'm the only one that has to hurry up and get thru Monday morning. xo Trying not to cry, but as several people said to me tonight "how are YOU holding up", I found myself tearing up against my will. Just get them off to school on the first day and I will be fine...I'm sure of it. :)
It's starting to hit me that my little side kick is starting school in less than a week and I'm realizing that a chapter is closing for me and for her. xoxo Yep, I'm kind of just carrying around a Kleenex with me all the time right now. :) I will miss both of them as they head back, but Eme's change hits home a bit more this year.
So...my goal of making Grace a music junkie is on it's way. We've seen some good shows over the summer and this past weekend was no different.
Friday night found us at the Sara Bareilles show...perfection...and her analytical discussion of the album on the way home after having heard most of it live was such fun.
Sunday night found us at the American Idol Live show...well, okay, not perfection like Miss. Sara Bareilles, but still fun to see them all and the company was divine. We four felt a special connection because of the pool we do every season while we watch, so we had vested interest in some of these people if for no other reason than we wanted to WIN the POOL!!!
And then....an impromptu meet and greet with the contestants and oh, my group was excited...Sam was the favorite (damn it..I had him down to win the whole thing..he should have, but he didn't) of the two girls and both Josie and Grace were shy and excited all at once. :)
G already has her picture blown up, framed with autograph beside it. She's becoming a chip off the old block...me being the old block(if you weren't sure). She is loving her music..it's awesome. She chatted non stop the entire way home.."I can't stop shaking, why can't I stop shaking...Sam had his arm around me...he called me sweetheart, did you hear that, Mom...oh my gosh, I met Sam!!!!" (Nevermind that Sam had to pull her over to him because she just kind of stood there like a deer in the headlights, but she is quite pleased with herself for doing it in the end!) Pretty darn cute.
And even this guy got a little excited to have a pic taken with the winner and don't forget Jessica... ;) It was cute. I settled for awkwardly trying to remember their names and shaking hands, but that was enough for me. Great night.
As is the tradition, Papa's work hosted their annual Fun Plex Day!! Free admission, all the rides, food and swimming you want...all day. Paradise for the girls.
Riding high in a balloon....
Back down to Earth...so cute..buddies...
Due to tremendous hip/back/leg pain, Papa used his cane, but as he so generously went on a ride with Grace, Eme took great pride in holding onto it for him....
Came complete with photo booths...Mom and Dad reliving their teen days...
